2018 is a big year for Six Foot Staffing! In January, we evolved from recruiting exclusively for Six Foot Games to supporting the needs of external game studios. A shift in direction warrants a little more space to stretch our legs – in this case, a website to call our own.
We used to host our job board on the main Six Foot website. Visitors couldn’t tell if the jobs were for Six Foot or for our client studios — not ideal. But as confusing as that was, our reasons for creating our own site go deeper than just the need for clarity.
Six Foot Staffing is about the need for epic wins — in your studio, in your career, in your life. To believe that we can help you achieve them, we know that you need to see us for who we are. This site will serve as the table for an open conversation between us and you — the People of Games.
That Six Foot magic, at large in the games industry
We may be a bit biased, but even among so many amazing companies in the games industry, Six Foot stands out as a star in our eyes. Why?
Because Six Foot understands that without people, there would be no games.
That’s the philosophy Six Foot Staffing wants to cultivate; not just here, but everywhere. The video game industry is still relatively young. There have been growing pains, but we’re all lucky to be a part of this industry during its formative years. This is the time to make the biggest impact on its trajectory.
What does that mean for you?
For us, it means never forgetting that games are a passion-driven pursuit. We want to partner with studios whose fire for their projects fuels their resolve to build rock-solid teams. We want to connect with developers, artists, designers — the grownup versions of those kids who played their first video game and immediately knew who they wanted to be when they grew up.
We want to join hands with the People of Games who see the future that we see.
What DO we see for the future of video games?
As a form of entertainment, as a form of art, we believe that video games have more potential than any other form in existence. After all, what else can encompass so many other art forms (visual, music, storytelling), while also creating endless worlds and arenas for sport and competition?
We love video games for what they are now, but we predict their future applications will stretch far beyond those of art and entertainment.
Jane McGonigal tells it best. See her unforgettable TED Talk below.
Game creators and game players are “dual citizens” of the real and digital worlds. Equipped with the emergent technologies of today, you — our amazing partner studios and game dev rockstars — have the power to bring those worlds together to solve real problems, create real opportunities and have an impact on millions of people.
But, before games can change the world…. we have to create change for the people who bring games to life.
That’s why we’re here — because we see a future when the People of Games don’t have to choose between survival and their art.
What do you see for the future of games? For your future?
